Park Closed to Target Shooting and Off-Road Vehicles

Buckeye, Ariz. (Sept. 24, 2015) –In anticipation of the park opening, the City conducted two cleanups in late 2013 and early 2014 with volunteers removing 68,000 pounds of trash off the land. At that time, the City of Buckeye began an educational campaign to inform locals the area was closed to target shooting and dumping. Additionally, because of City and County air quality laws, off-road motor vehicles will no longer be allowed off of Watson Road. Buckeye City Code 12-2-6 prohibits the operation of any motor vehicle, including motorcycle, minibike, dune buggy, all-terrain vehicle, motor scooter, off-highway vehicle, off-road recreational motor vehicle on unpaved private and/or public property. Maricopa County’s Ordinance P-28 also does not allow any vehicle on unpaved public or unpaved private property within unincorporated areas of Maricopa County without lawful authority.
